Cool Spot is a mascot for 7 Up, introduced in 1987. During this time, the red spot in the 7 Up logo was anthropomorphized: given arms, legs, a mouth, and sunglasses. British video gamesdeveloper Virgin Interactive's American studio produced a platform game starring the 7 Up Spot, entitled Cool Spot. It was originallydeveloped in 1993 at Virgin Games USA by David Perry for theMega Drive/Genesis and Super NES and then ported by other teams to Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, Game Boy,Amiga and DOS in 1994.

The Completionist
Jirard played the SNES version of Cool Spot for the 112th episode of The Completionist. While he praises the music of the first level and the bonus level, he's very critical of the lack of boss fights, the game's story (which pretty much only exists in the manual and not the game itself), bad level design, and punishing difficulty when trying to 100% the game. Upon completing the game on its hardest difficulty setting, Jirard's disappointed to find that the reward for completing the game is a screen meant to be photographed and sent in to Virgin for a prize. Though he is certain he won't receive anything for his efforts, he took a picture of the screen and tweeted it to the 7 Up Twitter account anyway. Jirard was reportedly sent a ton of 7 Up as a prize.
Before he can rate the game, Jirard goes on a walk to calm down from the frustration the game caused him. Greg informs the audience that Jirard gives the game a "Donate It!" rating after previously considering a "Look At It!" rating.
Trivia
- This is the first game to receive a "Donate It!" rating. From this point on, "Donate It!" replaces the "Burn It!" rating (which was retired after the Sonic '06 review).
- This review was done in lieu of a video on Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, as Jirard only just got the game in its release. A review of the game was posted the following week.
