The Completionist Edit

Jirard reviewed Gunstar Heroes for the forty-sixth episode of The Completionist, along with Canadian Let's Player Proton Jon. Jon is unable to do the review in person, so Greg brings in a tux with a picture of Bruce Willis to make up for this. This leads to a gag where Greg refers to Jon as Bruce Willis throughout the review.

The opening skit features Jirard and Greg attempting to infiltrate an undisclosed base under fire. When having Greg run, he gets shot, and requests not to be replaced in his dying breath. Panicked, Jirard calls Proton Jon, who gives him the encouragement to stick to the plan.

Jirard compliments the "sensory overload" aspect of the game's presentation, especially with its colo(u)r (eh?) pallet. Jon notes how the graphics pushed the limitations of the Sega Genesis.

As Jirard and Jon play the PS3 rerelease of the game, Jon gives some compliments to the online co-op, which he describes as "seamless." He also gives some praise to the weapon variety, and the way they work together in co-op. Jirard finds the board game to be one of his favorite parts of the game because of its ridiculousness. Jon's favorite parts of the game are the numerous boss fights, which are challenging and fun.

Jon and Jirard find the game to be very challenging, but fun and worth playing, especially since the game has unlimited continues.

Trivia Edit

  • The episode was done in tandem with a Hard Mode co-op Let's Play Jon and Jirard did of the game on Jon's YouTube channel.
  • This is the first time a guest on the show made a "Bears" joke, to the dismay of Greg.
