Symphony is an indie developed shoot-em-upvideo game produced by Empty Clip Studios. It was released for Microsoft Windows in August 2012, and for Linux and Mac OS Xin May 2014.

The game is played by manipulating a ship and firing on enemy ships, earning points and collecting power-ups that are dropped by the ships. The patterns for the appearance of the enemy ships are based on analysis of a selected music file, either from those that ship with the game or from those already on the user's computer. As the player completes songs, they earn new abilities they can add to their ship, while defeating specific bosses from certain songs will increase the game's difficulty level.

The Completionist Edit

Jirard reviewed the game for the 37th episode of The Completionist. In it, he takes a different approach to the review, in a format called Here Comes a New Challenger! In this format, Jirard focuses on a new game and doesn't necessarily aim to complete the game before giving his full review. Also, the comedic overtones of The Completionist aren't as present.

Jirard is interested in the game because it combines shoot-em-up elements with music, two things he likes. For the review, Jirard plays remixes of some of his favorite video game songs.

Jirard praises the presentation, especially the user-friendly interface and polished visuals. He does warn against importing too much music, which will overload your level choices. He also praises the customization options, but is disappointed with the lack of controller options. Greg comments on the fun boss fights and high replay value due to different enemy types.

Overall, Jirard finds the game to be very addictive and well-designed.
